David was a Lieutenant in David Lindsey’s Company of Rangers on the Frontier 1778-1783.

David Lindsey signed his name to receive pay for serving in the Westmoreland County militia in 1782.  The date the men signed is not given.  It may have been several years later.  A record on file at the Pennsylvania Archives Online site shows a certificate that was issued to David Lindsay for military pay in 1785.  The amount he was paid matched the amount for the 1782 service.  See below.

This certificate was issued in 1785.  It appears to be the same amount that David signed for in the above record.  Perhaps the men were paid in 1785 for service they did in 1782 in Westmoreland County.
