On another page in the application, it states that Col. John Lindsey was born in 1740, and he died in 1795, and that
Elizabeth Lindsey (wife of Col. John) was born in 1742, and she died in 1828.

Delia Hord asked me about documentation on the various Lindseys I listed
from the history of Newberry Co., SC. I can offer the following, from a
letter addressed to my father in Jan. 1963 (it was under his bed for 34
years until he moved last February) from Irene S. Donohoe:

James Terrell Lindsey, the fourth son of Dr. lindsey died in jackson,
Miss Aug 7, 1924.

Ms. Donohoe says this Bible record was sent by Rev. Smythe H. Lindsay of
Miami Fla March 7, 1761 (could be 1961). He said, I quote:

"Years ago I located in Pensacola one of the John (Elizabeth)
descendants who gave me the information from their (Newberry) Family
Bible."

This doesn't put everybody together in families--just supplies a lot of
dates. Plotting things out on family group sheets does the most for me.
However, I don't have the gedcom program so that I can post my
information in families.

Obituary [From Lindsey Family Bible by Miss L.E. Lindsey]

Dr. Caleb Lindsey is no more. He was born in Newberry District, South Carolina 16th June 1807. Graduated at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia; settles as a practitioner of medicine in Alabama and removed to Jasper County, Mississippi and afterwards to Pass Christian, Mississippi, and at his residence, eight miles from the sea coast, on the evening of the 23rd of May 1874 breathed his last on earth. For a long time he had suffer from diabetes, and a short time prior to his death softening of the brain ensued. He was followed to the "City of the Dead" in Pass Christian by a large concourse of citizens, and was interred by his Masonic brethren. One old citizen remarked that it was the largest Masonic funeral ever known in the place.
He was originally an old line Whig, was for the Union before, during and ever since the war. He was a man of positive character, honest in his convictions, and firm to maintain them. He served two sessions in the Legislature, and was ever ready to promote as far as he understood, the best interests of the state. Ever ready and active as the youngest member, he was never known to shirk from duty regardless of friend or foe. He early avowed himself a Republican, notwithstanding the odium, which at that time attached to a Southern man by those unwilling to accept the situation. At the time of his death he held the office of Collector of Customs at Shieldisboro (?). He was eminently an earnest man in whatever he undertook. he was well versed in his profession and successful in its practice. He was of an affectionate nature and in the bosom of his family shone pre-eminent. He had not the faculty possessed of some of claiming every acquaintance as a friend. His intimates were very few but toward them there was exhibited an ardor of attachment of which the world though him not possessed of. He was fearless in his declaration of principles and would have died in their defense. With all this varied attainments and knowledge of the world, in his family and among his intimate friends, he was noted for the simplicity of manners (?) and gentleness of heart belonging to a child. The bosom of his family was truly to him his heaven on earth. May our Divine Master sanctify this heavy bereavement to the good of the family of the deceased. May He in (?) protect and support them. And may the hope by them be entertained of meeting the loved one where parting is no more and grief can never come.

I found Laura Lindsey last on the 1910 census for Harrison Co., MS.  She was living with her sister, Sarah:

Laura was not mentioned in the bible record, but her siblings were.

Caleb Lindsey in the census:

1840  Monroe Co., AL.  Age 20-30, wife age 15-20.  No children

1850  Jasper Co., MS

1860  Jasper Co., MS  John Lindsey, age 84 (b. ca. 1776) also lived in Jasper Co.

Benjamin F. Lindsey, second son of Caleb Lindsey died in Gulf Port, Miss July 1, 1907.
Sarah Elizabeth Lindsey, third daughter of Dr. Caleb Lindsey, died at Gulf Port, Miss, July 25, 1917.
Rienza Lindsey Burton died at Marshall, Texas Feb 6, 1913. (Listed as Ryencia Burton on 1870 census for Harrison Co., MS.  Husband was Richard Burton b. 1843 in AR.  They had a son, William, age 1, b. LA).
John Hancock Lindsey, the first son of Dr. Caleb Lindsey died at Wichita, Kansas Feb 9, 1922  (He was listed as an inmate, age 74,  in the Masonic Home in 1920, Sedgwick Co., KS)
James Terrell Lindsey, the fourth son of Dr. Lindsey died in Jackson, Miss Aug 7, 1924.  (married to Frances, aka Fanny, b. AR)

If Laura wrote these entries, she had to have been alive in 1924.  I have not been able to locate her in the census after 1810.  Did she marry?

Who was the third son?  Did he die and never appear on a census?  He had to have been born after 1852 (Benjamin) and before 1859 (James).  Maybe because Laura was born in 1863, she never knew him, or his exact birth and death dates.  Laura may not have known Jane's birth and death dates because she was so much older, but Corrine was closer in age.  Corrine was not in the bible record.  Only Sarah Elizabeth, called the third daughter (so Jane must have been known about) and Rienza were named.

1870, Harrison Co., MS.  Elizabeth is Sarah Elizabeth.
