These beautiful photographs of
the Long Marsh area of present day Clarke Co., Virginia were
taken by Carl L. Lindsey
on his trip to the Long Marsh area in Spring 2007. Click

The gravestone is that of John T. Lindsey.
John T. was the son of Joseph Berry Lindsey (b. 1837) and
Mary Elizabeth McCormick. Mary was a descendant of Patrick
McCormick, who was a neighbor of the Long Marsh Lindsey's
when they first settled in the area ca. 1733.
Joseph Berry Lindsey was the son of Steven
Jones Lindsey, b. 1808 and Hannah Elizabeth Lindsey, b.
1816, who were first cousins. Steven's father was Thomas
Lindsey, b. 1779, a son of John Lindsey, b. 1746, and Sarah
Abrell Lindsey. Hannah's father was James Lindsey, b. 1773,
another son of John and Sarah Abrell Lindsey. John
Lindsey's father was Thomas Lindsey, b. abt. 1720, possibly
a son or brother of Edmond Lindsey Sr. (b. 1697). Thomas
Lindsey, b. abt. 1720, d. 1769, is not represented in any of
our DNA lineages, yet.
