| This chart shows our research-based hypotheses about how our DNA participants descend from the Long Marsh pioneers. The red lines denote unproved relationships. At the bottom, the L#'s that have asterisks denote the participants whose DNA forms our Group 2 modal haplotype. Click on an L# at the bottom to learn more about the lineage. Some of our participants have not yet been identified with an early ancestor, so we need to do research to find their connections. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Edmund and John Lindsey were believed to have been brothers who migrated from Cecil Co., MD to the Long Marsh area of old Frederick Co., VA ca. 1733. Their father may have been an Edmund Lindsey who was born in Charles Co., MD about 1665. He married Abigail. Edmund died in Cecil Co., MD about 1709. | There is speculation that Thomas may have been the son of Edmund Lindsey Sr. (b. 1697). Because Thomas sometimes signed his name Thomas Jr. there is also speculation that he was the son of a man named Thomas Lindsey who lived in Cecil Co., MD. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| These two are likely descendants of John Sr. and Alce. James (b. by 1775) is said to have had a brother John who was a Revolutionary War soldier in SC. When Thomas (b. abt. 1740) died in 1815, the heirs of Samuel Lindsey were legatees. | L0156 has been proved a descendant of Edmund Lindsey, Sr. The other participants in this section of the chart are likely to also descend from Edmund. Their progenitors (except perhaps Abraham, b. by 1723) were all found in early Wilkes Co., GA records, which is where Jacob Lindsey Sr. migrated to after leaving the Long Marsh area ca.1785. There is only one proved son of Edmund; that is Jacob Lindsey Sr. Edmund also had a documented son, John (b. 1731), but no known descendant of John has participated in the DNA project to date. | These men must all descend from Edmund (b. 1697) or some other unidentified Long Marsh patriarch. Of these, the descendant of Stephen (L0083) is a perfect match with a descendant of John Sr. (L0029) and Edmund Sr.(L0156) (L0102) at 43 markers. Stephen, Hezekiah, and David (b. 1750) all have documented ties to the Long Marsh area. William was the brother of Hezekiah, per family tradition. David, William, and Hezekiah were all Revolutionary War soldiers stationed at Fort Pitt (Pittsburgh). | These need to be researched to see how they fit in. DNA says they must. Help is appreciated! | We need DNA participants for this line! | ||||||||||||||||||
